Reflections remind us to experience our environment as another element. Whether it is a duplication of an image, or a conscious critique within ourselves, we can contemplate our surroundings. My artist's book contains elemental reflections that inspire the viewer to observe and decipher its true meaning. Allow the images to transport you to another realm, if only for a moment.
This series seems to be going well. I will warn you though about having too many glass reflections with the other two (graffiti reflection and your abstract reflection). Those two look out of place with the others because of the number of them, but if you make more odd ones it will work. Once again i love the idea and your images. -sky
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest and say I'm not digging the one above because I can tell it's the reflection of your hallway from the sliding glass door. The other ones are great. Maybe try venturing out and trying natural reflection in water or ice.
ReplyDeleteI have to say the graffiti picture is the one I'm most attracted to! It's a very fun and colorful photo!
ReplyDeleteI like that light showing up ouside of balcony. but it is a little fuzzy. it is quite hard to see now.
ReplyDeleteI definitely see what you are trying portray in reference with reflections in your photos. Reflections especially in glass give the viewer a sense as if they are in another realm. It almost feels as if you are in the twilight zone.

I think they are coming out really nicely. The kind of swirly fun house-esque image is really interesting. Did it really come out like that or was it manipulated?
ReplyDeleteThe swirly one is my favorite. Have you considered shooting from lower or higher angles. All of the photos seem to be from eye level. Just a suggestion.
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of hard to see the reflection in this photograph. I had to look at it closely to see what was reflected. The other photos you have taken are stronger than this one. I can't wait to see what you do next!

These photos are cool. I like the mysteriousness to them. It might be cool to make it harder for us to know where they are photographed.

check out the settings of your camera. it may be shooting at too high of an ISO because it is giving you a looooot of grain.
ReplyDeleteThe swirly photo is actually a giant wall mirror at the local car wash. Each section has different contortions (and make me look skinny!).

Great work! You are nailing it down! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteWe may have to revisit the first few sentences of the statement, but that is looking pretty good too.

I think the one below this is the strongest but overall they are looking good. Keep it up. You have a good eye but maybe you should play with the settings on your camera more and think about lighting (referring to the most recently posted image).
ReplyDeleteI am really more attracted to the photos with the reflection of glass with the image behind it, like the first one and the clock one. I would try cropping or shooting some of them so they are not so recognizable. Great job so far! Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteMelissa :)
Its a nice concept... almost like a ghost world in the glass... maybe try staging a scene in the reflection to make it more dynamic... otherwise nice job
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the poster reflection is absolutely beautiful to me, I think because the colors are so wonderful. I have to agree with christine that I am not too fond of the reflection in this one. The reflections are so interesting in all the other photos and this one is just kind of hard to see. You are doing some great work so far! Can't wait to see some more next week!

i really like the carwash one. i think that natural reflections like water would be interesting as well, as there are many types of reflections.
